Endpoint measure practical cure: hearing is practically normal, so that patient can hear words spoken with ordinary strength behind his back, or Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) test shows auditory threshold below 30 Db HL(HL = hearing level?); marked improvement: patient is able to hear words spoken behind his back with voice somewhat raised, or ABR test shows patient’s auditory threshold lowered by >20 Db HL; improved: patient is able to hear honk of an automobile or sound of firecrackers, or ABR test shows patient’s auditory threshold lowered by >10 Db HL; ineffective: no improvement noticeable as compared with pretreatment condition
Outcome practically cured: 15 (19.0%); marked improvement: 27 (34.2%); improved: 27 (34.2%); failed: 10 (12.7%); overall effective rate: 87.3%
