Endpoint measure in hemiplegics, time taken to walk a distance of 30 metres; in acute lesions, severity of pain assessed subjectively as mild, moderate and severe; in frozen shoulder, range of movement
Outcome response to treatment varied; acute ligamentous sprain of the back exhibited good response, particulary in younger patients; chronic back response was poor, with recurrence of symptoms seen as early as 4 wks after treatment; in all cases EA produced better results than MA; 100% success rate seen in frozen shoulder; in hemiplegics response was slow, with some improvement in muscle function.
